The Beauty of Beauty

Since beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, everyone has their own perception of beauty. We recognize beauty in three different ways. First, there is the outer beauty which is represented by famous celebrities with perfect bodies and gorgeous faces. Beauty is also found in nature from different settings and scenery. And last but not least, there is the inner beauty of living things. Beauty is not the same for everyone. We see beauty daily all around us, but we take it for granted. Beauty should be also determined by physical appearance, by landscaping, or from one’s inner character or attitude.
First of all, beauty is recognized by the exquisite looks of a person. We can see at beauty contests, movie celebrities, or fashion show. When I see a person for the first time, I always start with an assessment of their physical beauty. For example, when I watch a beauty contest, it is nice to see all of the gorgeous ladies because of their physical appearance. When watching a movie, even though the subject is not so interesting, most ladies love handsome actors such as Tom Cruis, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, or Will Smith. Furthermore, who does not enjoy watching a fashion show? Who does not enjoy seeing gorgeous ladies and gentlemen walking on the stage, even if the clothes they wear are not our style? We will watch because the outer beauty of the people walking the stage.
Another form of beauty is our environment and the nature that surrounds us. On a deserted beach, I can hear the whisper of the waves crashing on the sand and feel the water around my ankles. This natural setting brings peace and reminds me of the natural beauty of the seashore. Lightening storms are another one of nature’s gifts of beauty. I enjoy the view of lighting and how it streaks across the sky with no boundaries or limits. Have you ever seen a thistle bush? It looks ugly; its leaves are very pointy which can hurt you. Nobody wants to have this kind of bush in his backyard; however, some of them when they bloom produce gorgeous flowers. That beautiful flower comes from inside the ugly bush, it is the beauty pushed outside that everybody can see. Nature is the meteorological phenomenon, even ugly bush of a thistle can have its own beauty, but it all depends how see and appreciate it.
Looking for beauty in everything isn’t always easy. We’ve been thought to believe that certain things are beautiful, which makes it difficult to find everything beautiful. But I really do believe that beauty is everywhere, in everything, and it’s up to us to open our eyes and look around to see it, Sometimes beauty is hidden inside a person, and our eyes can only observe the outer beauty in the world, and we miss the hidden beauty found inside of a person or many other things around us. Once I met a man who was not physically appealing, but when he started to talk with me, it was like the biggest benefit I could have experienced. I totally forgot how the person looked physically, and I began to respected and admire him for his own power and ability of speaking. Additionally, people are not the only living beings that have inner beauty. I remember a story from my childhood about a dog who had just three legs. Nobody wanted to play with him, because he could not jump as high as other dogs or run as fast as other dogs. One day, one of my friends got sick, and that dog was the only friend who stayed with him the entire time. This is another example of inner beauty. The final example is a clam. Did you know that if a clam is not sealed perfectly, then sand gets inside of it and irritates the oyster? The irritation from the sand forms a nice white pearl. This is a beauty coming from inside a gray hard shell. The oyster transforms it from its own pain into something gorgeous that everybody wants to see. You might be surprised by what you find when hidden beauty is revealed, touching your soul and lighting up the gray moments of your life.
Beauty is a general concept, but each person has his own perception about it. Some people are labeled by the general public as nice looking but, in my opinion, nature is always a beautiful. Even is something is ugly at first, look carefully because there might be something deeper within to change your mind, their inner beauty. Beauty is like stained-glass windows, it will sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, and its true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
